Over the last 40 years the Erongo Region of Namibia has produced in access of 300Mlb of yellowcake and still contains 1.5Blb of U308 in Measured and Indicated Resource categories and 350Mlb in Inferred Resources. These all occur within a 50 km radius and include Deep Yellow’s projects. The uranium mineralisation occurs in 2 distinct types of geological environment. Specifically:
Alaskite type uranium mineralisation which is currently mined at Rössing and Husab occurs in granitic and associated rocks of the Damaran or Pan-African orogenic belt forming the basement of the region; and
Paleochannel/calcrete type uranium mineralisation which occurs in Tertiary and Quaternary sediments filling ancient river valley drained systems that the uranium rich hinterland.
Reptile Mineral Resources & Exploration (Pty) Ltd (RMR), a wholly owned subsidiary of Deep Yellow Limited (DYL) manages the Reptile Project, the Nova Joint Venture and Yellow Dune Joint Venture covering an overall 1983km2. The projects contain resources totalling 95.2Mlb U308 at 306 ppm in the Measured, Indicated and Inferred categories at cut-offs varying between 100 and 250 ppm U308. Specifically:
The Reptile Project includes 2 EPLs covering uranium resources totalling 77.2Mlb U308 at 328 ppm and exploration targets of the paleochannel/calcrete type and of the Alaskite type.
The Yellow Dune JV includes 1 MDRL application covering a drilled-out uranium resource of the calcrete type totalling 18Mlb U308 at 237 ppm.
The Nova JV includes 2 EPLs prospective for both alaskite and paleochannel/calcrete type uranium mineralisaiton.
